Right off the bat, I'm cheating. The goal here is to make a bunch of different kinds of hot chocolate from scratch to see which one is the best. Naturally, I came to Starbucks to start building this site, and boom, it hit me: I drink Starbucks' hot cocoa *all the time*. I don't think it'll rate too highly against the other hot cocoas I'll be reviewing here, but it's worth debating!
- Running late for something? Kitchen a disaster you don't even want to think about? Head to a Starbucks.
- Stand in line. Wait for the guy in front of you to overcomplicate his order and confuse the barista. (Dude, if you're getting a non-fat latte drizzled in caramel, you might as well order it with real milk, too...)
- You're next. You'll take a grande hot chocolate and a slice of lemon loaf (it's an astounding 470 calories, so you're getting real milk in the cocoa, too.) A small cocoa is too small and a large will be cold before you can finish it.
- Wait at the end of the bar with all the other customers, most of whom are wearing yoga pants and talking on their phones.
Tip: Don't wear yoga pants to Starbucks.
- Keep your head high when they announce your hot cocoa is ready. Yes, the adults around you will probably look down their noses, but hey, you're not tethered to your caffeine addiction like the clown in the puffy vest and boat shoes, right?
- Enjoy!
